Pump Control Valves
Pump control valves automatically regulate downstream pressure and provides a constant pressure until the demand in the system is no longer required. Depending on the on the model of the pump control valve an integral or external low flow by-pass allows the system pressure to slowly rise under low demand and fill the tank or reservoir until the pressure switch setting is reached.
Most pump control valves have a backpressure feature designed to minimize the surges associated with the starting and stopping of pumps, and automatically throttle toward closed when pump discharge pressure falls below an adjustable minimum, increasing backpressure against the pump. The pump control valve opens at an adjustable rate upon pump start-up, and closes at an adjustable rate upon pump shut-off. When the valve is near closed a limit switch is tripped, turning the pump off. The pump starts and stops against a closed valve, and has provisions for manual operation in the event of power outages. Electrically interfaced with the pump motor, the valve opens and closes at an adjustable speed, providing a smooth, predictable transition of pump discharge pressure and volume into the system.

This pump control valve automatically adjusts to provide constant pressure at different flows and works with any pump. This simple mechanical device saves electricity, eliminates water hammer and extends the service life of the pump while providing a constant pressure regardless of water flow. The field adjustable external by-pass provides full control of the tank fill rate for adjustable run time of the pump.
