The State of California has signed into law Senate Bill AB 1953 mandating the lead content of any plumbing/waterworks products that is exposed to the wetted surface of a water system. This new law takes effect January 1, 2010 and for many years, Danfoss Flomatic has been committed to providing products that exceed the requirements of lead content.
Danfoss Flomatic Valves is a company committed to preserving and improving the environment while producing valve products that meet the most stringent safety and health standards. Danfoss Flomatic introduced the industry’s first unleaded bronze ENVIRO CHECK®, in 1996, which have been recognized as an acceptable material for California Prop 65.
This new bill has revised the term lead free, “to refer not to the lead content of pipes and pipe fittings, plumbing fittings, and fixtures but to a weighted average lead content of the wetted surface area of the pipes, fittings, and fixtures of not more than 0.25%.” Now certain states are specifying no-lead materials that contain no more that 0.10% lead. Nick Farrara, VP of Sales, states, "We have taken a leadership role which will ensure continuous improvement in processes that impact on the environment. This is consistent with our environmental policy and our ISO 9001 and 14001 environmental registrations. I’m convinced that in the future unleaded materials, meaning less than 0.25% will be a requirement in all markets." Danfoss Flomatic has the solution for these requirements with “Enviro” bronze products. Our Unleaded Bronze valve products meet the requirements of UNS Copper Alloy C89833.
Danfoss Flomatic Unleaded bronze alloy contains not more that 0.10% max of lead content by weight.
